Transferring Ownership of Your Account

Hand your Daobook account to another member of your team — when a practice changes hands, a co-founder steps back, or the account was set up by the wrong person. The transfer moves the whole account: the subscription and every location under it, not a single clinic.

Nothing changes until the new owner accepts. You can withdraw the request at any point before then.

Before You Start

  • The new owner must already be a member of your team. If they aren't, invite them first from Team Management.
  • They don't need to have logged in yet — the request email gives them a set-up-password link if they never have.
  • Someone who already owns another Daobook account can't take over yours, so they won't appear in the list.

Step 1: Open the Request Page

Click Settings, choose the Team & Clinics tab, then Team Management. Just below your subscription summary, click the small Transfer ownership link. (It only appears once there's another team member who could take over.)

Step 2: Send the Request

  1. Under New owner, choose the team member taking over.
  2. Under You become, choose whether you stay on as an Admin (the default — you keep managing the team and settings) or a Practitioner.
  3. Click Send transfer request and confirm.

While the request is waiting, a line under your subscription summary shows who it's with and when it expires. Click Cancel request there if you change your mind.

Step 3: The New Owner Accepts

The new owner receives an email with a Review the Transfer Request button. It opens a page showing what they're taking on — the locations, the plan, the billing status, the SMS/AI credit balance coming across, and the payment method on file — and they click Accept ownership or Decline.

The moment they accept, the account is theirs. You'll both receive a confirmation email, and you'll see your new role in Team Management.

What Moves With the Account

  • The owner role at every location under the subscription.
  • The subscription and billing — the new owner is responsible for it from here on.
  • Your SMS/AI credit balance, which goes to the new owner's wallet.
  • Any card on file stays with the account until the new owner replaces it under Settings → Billing & Payments → Payment Methods. Tell them if that card is yours.

Tips:

  • The request expires after 7 days. If it lapses, you'll get an email and can simply send a new one.
  • Only one request can be open at a time — cancel the current one before sending another.
